Condition:
The beneficiary must be Tunisian and married
Necessary documents:
Identification photo of the head of the family (optional)
Marriage certificate
Birth certificate of both spouses
Birth certificate of the other members of the family (in case of obtaining a booklet duplicate or renewal or issuance after a period of time after marriage)
Death certificate, when the booklet must be delivered to the mother
A copy of the divorce decree for the mother who has the custody of children

Steps of deposit
The person concerned (1) must:
Submit a request to the Civil Status Officer of the district where the marriage contract was signed, accompanied with supporting documents
Provide the required information:
- For those who are married, before the date of the promulgation of the Law on the Civil Registry 1957, their family register is issued by the registrar of the place of birth of the husband
- For Tunisians who celebrated their wedding outside the national territory, the family register is issued by their diplomatic agents or territorial jurisdiction, consuls, who issued the marriage certificate

* The widow remains responsible for the booklet unless the court decides otherwise

Important advice:
- The entire transcription in the family booklet may only be made by the relevant registrar.
- In case of death of the head of family who is the holder of the family booklet, or if he is deprived by a judgment of his civil rights, the detention right of the booklet goes to the wife unless the judge decides otherwise.
- No one is legally competent insert, add or correct the family booklet except the registrar.
- The civil status documents taken from the family booklet legally have the same probative value as the extracts of documents of the civil registry
- Any person who knowingly uses documents written by a family booklet containing incomplete or false information is punishable by one year of imprisonment and a fine of 240 dinars.
